What Glues Are Used for Handmade Leather Goods?

Generally, novices often struggle with what glue to buy when making handmade leather goods. Leather goods are usually bought at very expensive prices. Powder glue: Mainly used for pasting cloth-bottomed sponges and cards.

The advantage of powder glue is that it is easy to rework and clean up. It can be dissolved as long as it is stained with white oil. The disadvantage is that it does not stick well to the smooth PVC bottom. Even if it can be adhered at the time, it will fall off after a long time. Powder glue is cheaper than all-purpose glue. Generally, powder glue is commonly used for making genuine leather bags.

Universal glue: also called (yellow glue), mainly used for pasting smooth PVC materials, and universal glue for parts or bags that are pasted after false lines are sewn. 

There is also a strong glue called 237 liquid paste, which has a bonding strength similar to that of universal glue, but it does not turn yellow after drying. The characteristics of universal glue and super glue are strong adhesion and are not easy to fall off, but the price is relatively higher. These two kinds of glue will corrode materials when mixed together, and cannot be used for some materials. In addition, the glue that stains the material is not easy to wipe off after drying.

Universal glue usually refers to a type of solvent-based adhesive commonly used in the building decoration and hardware repair industries. It is named because of its wide bonding range and easy use. It can generally be used for bonding soft and hard materials such as wood, aluminum-plastic panels, leather, artificial leather, plastic, rubber, and metal.

White glue: It is the most commonly used glue in bag factories because it is very cheap and will not corrode or penetrate.

 White glue is used for large-area spraying. If it is PVC smooth material, 7b water must be sprayed before spraying, otherwise it will not stick firmly. White glue cannot be diluted with water under normal circumstances. After dilution, it will smell after a long time.

7B glue is also called washing water. It is not sticky. Its main function is to corrode the smooth PVC bottom. Improve its adhesion on the glue. Suitable for leather bags.

Weather resistance, aging resistance, heat resistance, no drawing, excellent yellowing resistance under UV light or sunlight, strong adhesion and other characteristics.
